Description: Supporting digital equity as a bridge out of poverty is particularly timely in light of the impact of the pandemic on adult learning opportunities, as well as many other aspects of life. This discussion will center around digital equity across different type of organizations at various governmental and/or geographic levels i.e. state, local, and national. The webinar will consist of a panel of three people each of whom will provide insight on digital equity and partnering from a different perspective. Led by moderator Gwenn Weaver, the panelists will give a brief talk on the partnerships they are involved with, and answer a series of questions, before turning to the audience for further discussion.

The panelists include:

  • Shauna Edson of the Salt Lake City Public Library discussing the highly localized work of their digital navigators program.
  • Abi Waldrupe from the North Carolina State Library presenting on her work closing the homework gap in North Carolina, including her work with parents.
  • John Windhausen from SHLB tying together the need for high speed access to support the programmatic activities presented by the other two and to stress the urgency of policy work, such as that currently occurring around broadband.

This session will be recorded.
